Ramsey County Courthouse Parking & Check-In Guide

Most injury cases resolve without a trial. When yours does need a hearing, the day goes better if you already know where to park, what security expects, and what to bring.

The Building

Where It Is and When It's Open

The Ramsey County Courthouse shares its landmark building with Saint Paul City Hall at 15 West Kellogg Boulevard in downtown Saint Paul. The building is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closed on weekends.

Your hearing notice controls the details. It lists the time, the courtroom, and whether you appear in person or by video. Read it twice before you drive downtown, and call your attorney if anything on it is unclear.

Getting There

Parking and Transit

Parking is the most common hearing-day mistake. Parking ramps sit within a block of the courthouse on Wabasha Street, and downtown street meters mostly run two hours or less. A court calendar doesn't care about your meter, so use a ramp and budget for the full morning.

Taking transit? The courthouse sits in the middle of downtown Saint Paul. Check Metro Transit for the stop closest to Kellogg Boulevard before your court date.

At the Door

Security Screening

Plan on weapons screening when you enter: bags are inspected, and you pass through a metal detector. Leave pocket knives, tools, and anything you wouldn't carry onto a plane at home or in your trunk. Lines vary, so I tell clients to be inside the building about 30 minutes before their hearing time.

Hearing Day

What to Bring

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Your hearing notice with the case number and courtroom
  • Any documents your attorney asked for — nothing extra
  • A charged phone with your attorney's number saved

In most personal injury hearings, your attorney does the talking. Your job is to be present, on time, and reachable.

Appearing by Video

If Your Hearing Is Remote

Many Ramsey County appearances now happen by video, and the notice will say so. Treat the login like the courtroom: quiet room, tested connection, signed in early. The firm's remote hearing login and tech checklist walks through setup and troubleshooting step by step.

Context

How a Hearing Fits Your Injury Case

A hearing isn't a verdict. Most are procedural — scheduling conferences, motions about evidence, discussions the court supervises. Cases can resolve at any point along the way, and preparation is what moves them.
