Before the vehicle goes into a bay, photograph every damaged tire and wheel with your phone: the full tread face, the sidewall damage up close, the wheel itself, and one wider frame showing which corner of the vehicle the damage sits on. Phone photos in the parking lot cost nothing and take five minutes.

Two more steps at the counter. The store's pages offer free tire inspections, but no formal written inspection report is described — so ask what the inspection found and write it down while it's fresh. And if you want the damaged tire or wheel itself, ask before work starts; whether it's released to you is between you and the store.

Paperwork

The Invoice Is the Record You Leave With

The paper that leaves the store with you is the invoice. The company's own Invoice Terms describe it as “an estimate of repair and service costs as detailed herein” — the store's record of what was replaced and when. Keep it with your crash paperwork, not in the glovebox.

Paired with your photos and your inspection note, the invoice shows the damage existed and what had to come off the vehicle. That's the role vehicle damage evidence plays in auto accident litigation — it speaks for a tire that no longer exists.
