The East Metro Flank
Woodbury's Hospital off I-494
M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital is an 86-bed community hospital at 1925 Woodwinds Drive in western Woodbury, near I-494 between Valley Creek Road and Century Avenue South. It's a state-designated Level 4 trauma hospital in Washington County with a 24-hour emergency department, surgery and imaging, and The Birthplace birth center on a 30-acre wetland campus.
HealthEast opened it in August 2000 as Woodwinds Health Campus, a name official copy still uses for the grounds, and merged into Fairview Health Services in 2017. Fairview Health Services operates the hospital today; "M Health Fairview," the brand since 2019, is a clinical partnership with the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians, not a separate owner.
Doors and Parking
Which Entrance, and When
The main entrance is open 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekends. The emergency department entrance sits on the southeast side of the building and is reached from Weir Drive; it runs around the clock and serves as the after-hours way in once the main doors close.
Visitor parking is free, and complimentary valet runs at the main entrance Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Birch Center at 1875 Woodwinds Drive is a separate specialty building on the same campus, so check your appointment letter before you park. Entrances and hours can change, so confirm current details with the hospital before you drive in.
Records Route
Woodwinds Records Go Through Minneapolis
You don't request Woodwinds records at Woodwinds. M Health Fairview handles release-of-information for its whole system through a Health Information Management office in Minneapolis, and requests for this hospital's records route there.
Patients with a MyChart account can share or download records through the MyChart Sharing Hub, usually the fastest lane. Attorney and other third-party requests require the system's "Authorization for Release of Protected Health Information" form. Completed forms go by email to releaseofinformation@fairview.org, by fax to 952-915-8824, or by mail to Health Information Management, 2450 Riverside Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55454. Questions go to 952-924-5165, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Minnesota law gives you the right to copies of your own records, and your signed authorization lets us request them for you. Emergency department notes, imaging, discharge instructions, itemized bills — that paper trail ties the injury to the crash, and requesting certified copies is part of how a collision injury claim gets built.
After the Emergency
Follow-Up Care Without Crossing the Metro
Woodwinds anchors injury care on the metro's eastern flank. Summit Orthopedics' Woodlake Center sits 0.4 miles away — our walk-in orthopedic care guide for the Woodlake Center covers it — so a patient can move from emergency treatment to orthopedic follow-up without leaving the neighborhood. Nearby, consistent treatment keeps a medical record continuous, and a continuous record is harder for an insurer to argue with.
If you live out here, our page on how we serve Woodbury families covers the local picture, and the rest of our points-of-interest guides map the places an injury case touches across the east metro.
